Marché des Enfants Rouges

The red children's market is located at 39 rue de Bretagne in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, a five-minute walk from the Histoires de Parfums gallery.

Created in 1615, it is the oldest covered market in Paris. Originally called the Little Market of the Marais, it was baptized as Marché des Enfants Rouges (Market of the red children) because of its proximity to the Hospice des Enfants Rouges which welcomed orphans whose coats were red.

Today the market includes twenty traders. You can go shopping to organic caterers or fishmongers, have a gourmet break at the Italian, Lebanese, Japanese, Afro-Caribbean or brunch on Sunday at the Estaminet.
